This is an incomplete but decent sounding show from the UK leg of the 1974 "WarChild" tour.

From NRT's original notes: "This recording is seemingly brand new to trading circulation - presumably London's usual bootleggers were all on the other side of town, taping Pink Floyd at Wembley.... Unfortunately, the taper's batteries died, so the final ~10 minutes of the show and the encore were recorded badly, and discarded long ago; the 75 minutes remaining give an excellent impression of the 1974 Tull concert experience in their (professional) home town - it's worth it for Ian's comments alone!

Although covertly recorded by an audience member, ambient audience noise is minimal, and sound quality is limited only by the acoustics of the hall; in that respect, it's better than some audience DATs

from a quarter of a century later! The recording has been 'remastered' directly from the original master tape, avoiding the degradation of multiple-generation copying, but it must be remembered that it has been stored on magnetic tape for a matter of decades - it's extraordinarily good, but one has to be realistic....

Sourced directly from the audience master tape, with further processing:

* Dehissed, though some tape hiss was left, rather than distort the recording itself.

* The recording was subtly too slow, so the pitch was raised by 25 cents (quarter of a semitone).

* Whilst the right channel was rather quiet, the left channel was recorded too loudly, so the recording was rebalanced and normalised.

* Gratuitous audience noise and extended silences were omitted.

Notes: This is one of my 400+ Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson concerts and Radio shows. I have not recorded it by myself. It's a rip from a 2 CD-R release "Summer of '74". The Boot includes the complete performance of Jethro Tull's first show of the 1974 Japan Tour.

For such an old recording the sound quality is really very good. It sounds very clear and is very enjoyable (imho). Jethro Tull were very loud and energetic in these old days. The Boot captures this very well.

Notes. This is by far the best Minstrel In The Gallery tour show that I have. The sound is better than the "Out Of Egypt" show recorded a few days earlier. If I remember correctly a copy of this was on tapecity a while ago, but it was pulled for being lossy sourced. I checked this with audacity and it is without a doubt lossless. My copy of this came with a bonus interview from 1976, but the interview contains officially available music in the background, so I decided not to include it.

Some people say so, but I think they have any other recording. This is the final show of this tour.

The sound quality is really excellent, also concerning for the age. So far I know this is the best sounding recording from this tour (I don't have a better one).

Like the august 17 show it sounds very clear and is very enjoyable (imho ofcourse).

Jethro Tull were very loud and full of raw energie in these old days. The Boot captures this very well.
